Kayaking with kids can be fun. Please be sure they always wear a life jacket that is sized for their body and properly fitted. A tandem kayak or sit-on-top is ideal for introducing them to paddling, but a small child can also sit in your lap. Paddle close to shore and in calm, sheltered waters. And remember, kids have a limited attention span so don’t overdo trip length in the beginning. Make sure it’s safe and fun for them, and you can create a lifelong paddling partner!
