I’m a whitewater paddler of all craft, a yoga teacher, and an entrepreneur. I love being fit in mind and body and living life to the fullest! Residing most of the time in a small shack in the hills of North Carolina, my husband, my dog, and I like to hit the road seeking adventures in our big 4x4 van. We also enjoy traveling abroad and experiencing other places and cultures. Although it's hard to find me doing anything but going paddling when I'm off work, I also enjoy hiking and mountain biking. I am also into dark beer, red wine, spicy food, hula hooping, dance, electronica, and stargazing. I believe our lives are the ultimate art. Check out Andria's Team NRS profile.

A National Geographic Explorer and longtime NRS ambassador, Andy Maser is equal parts kayaker, adventurer, cameraman, conservationist and story teller. Andy’s work with the film crew Epicocity Project has explored the big issues of our time and the farthest reaches of the globe. I started kayaking when I was 10 years old, and it’s been a huge part of my life ever since. Living in Boise, Idaho, I’m able to spend a lot of time outdoors and on the water, but I also like to travel whenever possible. Whether sliding through a granite wonderland in California, blasting down the violent North Fork Payette in Idaho, or freestyling at a local playspot, I’m at home in the seat of my kayak. I document my adventures here on this blog and at kayakdiaries.com to help support my liquid addiction. Check out Dan's Team NRS profile.

After discovering that an open canoe is not appropriate for the Pacific surf, I evolved to board surfing (badly), and finally to sea kayaking. I migrate to Mexico in the winter where I guide and teach. Otherwise home, is Puget Island, Washington, in the middle of the mighty Columbia River, about 45 river miles from the Pacific Ocean. Efforts to hold down real jobs never lasted a year, but guiding, coaching, and running 2 kayak companies, a farm, and a kayak symposium have held my attention, in various combinations, for 15 years now. I’m an incorrigible whitewater addict and river gypsy, writer, and photographer. Whether for a day on a backyard kayak run, a week on a wilderness raft trip, or a months-long road trip across an entire continent, there’s nothing that makes me more happy than total immersion in the paddling lifestyle – when the flow of the river, friends, and the wildness around me compress the world into blissfully pure moments of NOW. I often live in a van down by the river with my wife Andria and our dog Hudson, and we write whitewater guidebooks to help put fuel in the tank. See rivergypsies.com for more of what we do. As the web media guy at NRS, I get to have a lot of fun. Whether it’s shooting photos or video on the water, working with the NRS ambassadors who share their exploits with us regular folks on Souls + Water, pursuing my own outdoor adventures, stringing words together, editing others’ words, or just yucking it up with my coworkers, I love what I do. I live in Moscow, Idaho with my wife, Sarah, and our three young sons. I boat when I can, bike or run when I can’t, and enjoy a cold pint at the end of the day.

Rob Lyon

Rob is a free-lance adventure journalist who typically works within his bio-region, dividing his time between the wilderness seacoast of BC, the high deserts of the Northwest and the lakes and streams of the North Cascades. He lives with his artist wife Pamela in the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington where they use solar energy, have several large ponds with fish, a huge garden and a disc golf course. They eat organically and locally (locavore is a new word describing that practice) as much as possible. Rob has two books and many articles to his credit. He is currently collaborating on a children’s book and has a novel in the hopper. He is a long time TM practitioner and student of metaphysics. Rob can be reached at: rob@lyonexpeditions.com

Kayaking and river running snagged me for good when I learned that I had river friends all over the world who I hadn't met yet. I spent time traveling to meet them, experiencing rivers from South America to West Virginia to China before finding the Columbia River Gorge. Now, I live in the Northwest, putting roots down through regional river conservation projects with American Whitewater, trying out SUP boards and rowing rafts, and writing about it all for blogs, magazines, and my own enjoyment. I like to use my NRS Ambassadorship as an excuse to paddle anything, anywhere, despite life's other responsibilities. Check out Susan's Team NRS profile.

Despite my reputation as an extreme athlete, known for crazy kayaking expeditions and running big waterfalls, my center of focus is actually quite different. I love doing what I do because of the incredible experiences I get to have and the amazing people I get to know along the way. At heart, I’m a down-to-earth Montana boy who grew up working hard on my mom’s ranch, riding horses, kayaking, rafting, and hiking through the Bitterroot Mountains with my pops. My goal is to channel the energy and momentum I’ve created through kayaking into positive inspirational and educational global efforts. I also enjoy backcountry snowboarding, fishing, traveling – and, of course, drinks and laughs with friends at the end of the day. Check out Tyler's Team NRS profile.
Will Stauffer-Norris

Will Stauffer-Norris

From October 2011 to January 2012, Will Stauffer-Norris and his buddy Zak Podmore hiked and paddled from Wyoming's Wind River Mountains to Mexico following the Colorado River system from its farthest inland source to the sea. Now he and and Zak have embarked on a new Colorado source-to-sea expedition, this time starting from Rocky Mountain National Park. Will's address is constantly in flux, but he resides mainly in Colorado. www.downthecolorado.org

Zak Podmore

Zachary Podmore grew up in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, near the Colorado River. He hopes to build upon the recently completed “source to sea” kayak trip by continuing to paddle rivers and to investigate water issues facing the Southwest. He graduated from Colorado College in 2011 with a degree in philosophy.
