Living in the Moment with Kayaker Alec Voorhees
Alec Voorhees: Playboating at the Boise Whitewater Park
Fill-in-the-Blank Bio:
I’m not quiet, I’m just listening, or at least that’s what my friends say. I’ve eaten no less than every day of my life eating wherever I can eat. While kayaking the North Fork, I occasionally am called a boof-aholic, but that doesn’t mean I can’t playboat too! My favorite place to eat is Panda Express, but I also love kayaking the Creeks of California.
Hometown:
Meridian, Idaho
Years Paddling/Boating:
9 years
Favorite Waters:
My favorite rivers to paddle have to be the Payettes outside of Boise. This is where I learned to paddle. From beginning Class II to the Class V classic the North Fork of the Payette, and easy roadside access, there is something for everyone! I also love the drops on Deep Creek. But if I have to travel California creeks are a favorite destination.
Hero(s):
Eric Jackson, Kevin Durant, and my parents
Off-the-Water Activities:
I also like basketball, football, and playing with my labradoodle Brooke
Music Rotation:
Dubstep, Hip/Hop, Rap
Sponsors:
NRS and Jackson Kayak
Why do you Paddle?
I like being places no one else has been. I like being unique! Kayaking gives me the ability to challenge myself. It is such a mental sport. I love it!
